Respected rappers that you never felt?

Post by Mothman on Wed Jan 08, 2014 11:00 am

Just commenting on Roc Marciano in the other thread reminded me of this. I just can't see why he's so popular.

The main one for me is GURU. (RIP)

I could never stand his flow. The way he put that annoying touch on every word.

Would also mention Jay Z, even his stuff like Reasonable Doubt I never liked. Prob same as above, don't really feel his flow.

Commercial rappers don't count BTW.

A lot of those are commercial rappers.

What I'm really trying to find out is, is there people that think people like GZA or Kool G Rap are wack.

Should also mention I haven't liked anything from Nas after Illmatic.

As a fan of Necro I respect mr Hyde. I would agree that he hasn't reached the level I'm talking about though.

Guru defines hiphop to me. Truth!

Has anyone ever seen that Eminem interview where Em is talking about 2Pac's death? Em said he was at work when he heard the news and felt sick but no one else could understand what the big deal was... That's how I felt about Guru. I was in my kitchen doing dishes later that night and it hit me. I remember thinking "Why couldn't it have been Lil' Wayne instead?" Real talk.

Immortal Technique
Sean Price
Prodigy
Ghosface Killah
Biggie
Big Daddy Kane
Krs-One
Danny Brown
A$ap Rocky
Sadat X

Notice that this is practically a "best of list" by any average self-proclaimed hiphop-head" while none of the above shouldn't even be thought of when it comes to a matter like that.

RZA
2Pac
The Pharcyde
Jay-Z
Nas
Kendrick Lamar
Abstract Rude
Aceyalone

that's the ones I never really liked that I can think of right now. 2Pac is the most overrated rapper of all time I think.

This is exactly what I'm getting at. Most people consider GURU a legend, but I just could never get into his flow. I think a lot of their success was due to Primo's beats.

Wow. Interesting. I must say I don't care for Ghostface after Ironman.

I'm fans of Sean P, Big Daddy Kane and KRS ONE though.

I think Biggie is pretty over rated but I still like Ready To Die.

I find it really interesting seeing the differences in peoples tastes. If we were all the same the world would be pretty boring.

I see what you're saying. The production did originally help me become a fan, but equally with Guru's sound. But I'm a hardcore fan of ALL Guru's albums. The Jazzmatazz albums were great, and I loved Street Scriptures.

Well said. He could deliver battle-style rhymes, but also be that uncle that drops a little knowledge to help his nephews grow. And I was dead serious about that Wayne comment. What growth has Wayne brought to the game?

And this is no dis to Moth or whoever said this shit about Guru, you're entitled to your opinion. And I gotta say it's fucked up that people are mentioning Kane & KRS in this thread too. lol

And I got respect for Immortal Tech too. If you don't love his music, you gotta at least respect his interviews.

Because he claims to be vegetarian and anti the whole money system or whatever, then he goes and make a smart phone commercial with a furr coat on him.

and that's only one of many things.

Nightmare wrote:okay, then it probably was just internet bullshit....

"How is sweden totally fucked?"
if it was true then you were fucked, as cashless society is the worst thing that can happen....facism at it's best....

btw. whats up with that swedish dude: jimmy akingson ??
is he any good? as he's probably the only one who can save your country from european-facist-tyranny-called-the european union......

what do the most swedish people think of europe? most dutch people hate it, and we will do probably anything to leave the european union as soon as we can

Nah we are not bankrupt.
Jimmy Åkesson is a nazi piece for shit. And the rest in his team is even worse. Some of the members that are high ranked in the party was filmed while they beat up a black guy with a iron pipe. The black guy didn't do anything, besides talking to a white girl and this white girl wasn't disturbed by the black guy but they where because they don't want the blacks to take "their swedish girls" from them.
