Aspergers Syndrome

I've noticed acouple of people on here has it so I guess I make a thread for it. I'm not gonna name names but the people that has it might wanna say it themselves. I have it tho. Haha.

What is your special interests? How does it inflict your everyday life?

Mine is catagorizing and music. Fits well with the forum, huh?

My Aspergers coupled with my OCD keeps me incredibly organized. Name any file on my computer and I can tell you exactly where it is, along with the full path name.

Firefox doesn't recognize Aspergers as a word btw.

Hmm... I'm kind of the same. I make everything scene release and organize it very in depth. I can also name the full path name hehe. What do you mean firefox doesn't recognize that word?

Same here. I have a hard time remembering names but I know the lyrics to almost evey song I've heard

I meant that when I type "Aspergers" it underlines it in red as if it is not a word, or is misspelled.

I do that too. Sometimes I load up an old album or song I haven't heard in years and I remember the lyrics to the T. Also, faces. I literally do not ever forget a face. A few months ago, I was catching up on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and I caught a glimpse for a split second of a black guy and I immediately knew where I had seen him before. He was in a TV show I watched on Nickelodeon as a kid, and hadn't seen in over 15 years.

interesting.. ive always suspected ive had some minor form of adhd, ocd, or something along those lines. i notice it more and more as i get older.. linus should have noticed how easily i was picking up on simple, easily looked over typos, mislabels, etc in some of the posts.. everything has to be labeled, clean and neat.. if i see it, i feel compulsive to fix it.. and on a much more extreme level than i think a "normal" person would. i keep my files organized more stirctly than a library keeps its books, for just one example. i dont have to turn the light on and off 5 or 6 times when leaving a room.. but i have some odd "rituals" and "habits" that i repeat.. people close to me have noticed, and mentioned it to me as well. sometimes i have an overwhelmingly hard time concentrating on simple shit too..

and no joke, ive went back and edited this text 2 or 3 times for no actual reason before i hit the "send" button..

Hehe. Yeah most of the things you said especially the catagorizing, organazing and repetitive habits is very typical for Aspergers. Also the concertaring example is pretty typical but it's also typical for ADHD. have you done a webtest for aspergers? Would be pretty fun to see your score

Remember, this is not reliable at all and you don't get the diagnos for doing a test on the internet. But if you score is very high, you should see a psychiatrist who can do a real psychic evaluation on you.

I suffer from depression and social anxiety (on serious levels)... Does that count for anything? My best friends are people twice my age (maybe more). I can't relate at all with people my age.

I don't relate to people my age either. Nor do I fit in any circles lol. I like hippie music, but hippies hate me because I also like Death Metal. I like Hip Hop, but heads hate me because I also like Pop.

What can ya do? lol.

ADD, oh yeah, I got that too (but who doesn't?)

I've learned to somehow (loosely) pay attention even when I'm feeling spaced out. I guess I'm able to pick up on the key words people say and put it together. So even though I don't hear 50% of what people are saying sometimes, I still get a rough idea 80% of the time. lol

my depressions are autism related.
and i also don't have a single trace of empathy for people i don't like...

i mostly chill with a-social people (as in criminals etc. etc.)
most of the times i feel relaxed in the company of those people, i think it has something to do with not picking up 'non-verbal-communications'....those people are more clearly to understand, no hidden agenda's.
a-social people have the tendency to instantly react when you do something that they don't like...it makes things very clear and easy to deal with.

Hey man, as long as you're comfortable with the situation, more power to you.

Personally, I have been clawing my way out of this isolation and trying to be more social. I've made some good acquaintances at work, but overall I don't like what I see in people. I'm about to give up and go back to being cynical towards the world if I don't find a social group soon.

Yeah, I feel older people tend to usually have more patience and be more understanding. I don't care about the age difference between me & the people I talk to, but it sucks that they're older because they are usually more involved in their family life and have no time to chill.

Word. People always wanna give me a suggestion on how to make friends, but don't want to be my friend. People always talking about, "Rap's popular so you can find someone to relate with". If only it was that easy to find someone who doesn't only listen to Gucci Mane or whatever, plus Jazz isn't very popular with my age group. I've really dug myself into a hole of abstract interests. lol
