VHS and Srpski are vastly different lol. VHS is one of those movies that isn't scary at all because it's marketed to 13 yr olds whose parents won't let them go see real Horror movies. A very high percentage of Horror movies in the last decade are just this.
Random useless shit happens
Movie intro
Introduce characters
Something bad, yet predictable happens to one of them
They all become aware of this scary entity (clown, serial killer, doll, zombie, etc.)
Random bullshit scenes to fill time
Dark room (hall, mansion, basement, asylum, woods, cemetery, morgue, etc.)
Getting very quit now, I hope no sudden loud noise happens!
...sudden loud noise happens
Brief flash of the killer
2 more characters are dead
The last characters have to either turn on one another or decide to stick together
One of the two scenarios plays out
More random scenes
One more of them die
They kill the killer, or he gets away, leaving us open for another bad movie in 11 months because nobody takes time making movies anymore (see: The Saw series)

But nothing about VHS was fresh or new lol. It's called a "Found Footage" film. Here's a list of found footage horror movies that came before VHS. Now that I'm looking, Cannibal Holocaust was made exactly 1 year before any of the directors or writers involved with VHS were even born.

The only found footage film I liked was grave encounters, the first one.

Paranormal activity I saw it by jumping from scene to scene... nothing to see after all. Smile
And I saw blair witch, the whole movie. I've found it boring. Not like the game.

VHS never heared of it, but since it is a movie like this (found footage) I don't think I'll watch it.

But Grave encounters, first one, I recommend.

I hate all found footage movies. I only liked cannibal holocaust because of the cannibal element. I generally like the topic of witches too, but the Blair Witch Project got so much wrong about the Bell Witch.

I'm not trying to be elitist, it's just that I physically OWN over 300 Horror movie VHS/DVD/Blu-rays, in addition to the 473 I currently have on my computer, not counting the ones I've seen and didn't like enough to keep. Spanning from 1920's to 2013. Slasher, Exploitation, Blaxpoitation, Giallo, etc. After seeing all those, V/H/S just seems like an irritating blemish on the entire Horror genre. But it's not JUST V/H/S, it's almost all new Horror movies, and for that matter, movies in general. Hollywood releases movies so often now, that almost no thought goes into each one. How many movies since 2005 can you think of that have the following plot?

Teens take a trip into the countryside, possible to a cabin
Teens get lost after a wrong turn
Teens get separated
Teens get raped and killed
Movie ends

Every single one of those movie is just a bad remake of The Hills Have Eyes or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And it's no just Horror lol. How many of Judd Apatow's stoner comedies are exactly the same. Superbad, Pineapple Express, Knocked Up. Imagination is dead within Hollywood, and it's never coming back.

In my opinion this two movies are good horror movies:
- In the mouth of madness(1994)
- Inside (2007) - À l'intérieur
have you seen them?

By the way. Korean horror movies are good. I don't think it is a need to make a list of them all here, but I can recommend any korean horror movie. Red shoes and Wishing Stairs are two that come to my mind right now.

I don't know why people hate on the Halloween remake. I've always been a huge halloween fan for a loooooooong time. And I remember being very exited for this movie with high hopes as I consider the original the best movie of all time. And this one didn't dissappoint. It's not as good as the original but it's really a worthy remake and a new take on the franchise. Why yould u want an exact same version of the movie. Rob Zombie did very good.

I liked the Halloween remake. It's sorta amusing actually. I absolutely hate remakes of Horror movies usually, and the original Halloween is my favorite horror movie. So when all the promo for Rob Zombie's Halloween was going on, I refused to have anything to do with it. Then I watched it and liked it. So then I thought Rob Zombie's Halloween II would be good too. And damn was I wrong. As it's own movie, it wasn't so bad, but it fucking hard nothing to do with Halloween II.

im a pretty big horror fan myself, cool thread.

first off, the "vomit gore trilogy" and "august underground" movies are NOT horror flicks, they are shitty low budget simulated snuff footage. i cant even call them "movies". lol.

if you want to see something fucked up, and want some form of a plot, watch "a serbian film"... if you speak english youll have to read subtitles, but its well worth it. you wont forget it..

if you cant find it elsewhere, sign in to youtube to view it here:
(seriously have no idea how this movie is still sitting on youtube... lol)

just seen 'the conjuring'
it was creepy, not great - not shitty.

same with 'curse of chuckie'
it wasnt great, but a lot better than the last few chuckie movies. they took all the (so called) humor/comedy out, and turned it back into a horror flick.. it reminded me of the 90s.. it was worth the rental.

I feel almost exactly the same way exept Halloween II, the rob zombie remake is a sequel to HIS Halloween. It's not really a remake of Halloween II, the original. Altho there are some paralells. Well, it's a great movie nevertheles...

Serbian Film is great. I watched it on a date with my ex. She almost puked. LOL

Curse of Chuckie. Is it the old one or a new one? If it's new I have missed it. Better check it out.
