Captain Murphy - Duality (VIDEO)

i remember checking this a while back, and pretty much overlooked it. i immediately discarded it as an 'odd future' knock off at the time, and i can admit now that i was sleeping. i recently seen someone mention it elsewhere, and i went back to see what it was i had missed... the lyrics arent anything to get all excited about, the voice distortion definitely makes flying lotus sound way too much like tyler, and the alter-ego idea has been done a few times now.. but the production, sample work, and theme of this album is fucking amazing to me. it has grown on me.. a lot.. so i figured id share with those who may have not caught this back when it was released.

quick bio: flying lotus is a producer/rapper, who has some recognition for doing work with adult swim (music used for many of the channels 'bumps'). he worked mainly as a producer (mostly in the "electronic' category) and has a few LPs/EPs. he goes by the alias FlyLo, and has a in-game radio station ('FlyLo FM') featured in Grand Theft Auto 5.

FlyLo's first vocal offering came disguised with the release of "Captain Murphy - Duality". when this album dropped, "captain murphy"s real identity was anonymous, and kept secret for a while to those who could not figure it out for themselves. flylo confirmed later. the "album" was released as a 35 min video.. which is orientated around a retro "how to be a cult leader" video, footage of jim jones in his prime, and porno clips.. which can be found on youtube..

i remember listening to this, and shrugging it off... now its getting daily rotation.. still dont think the first track after into represents the album very well, but this album escalates quickly...

enjoy.. if you havent already.. uncensored.. in all its glory.. i recommend medicating before this..

WOW!...I'm always interested in cult influenced music

the cult video clips definitely enhanced the album experience for me, no doubt.

also, i caught a repeat of Tosh.0 last night, that i had never seen before, and he was rocking a Captain Murphy t-shirt. this album had more exposure than i had thought.. not a bad "album" of sorts.. (clocking in at just over 35 minutes long...)
